Custodian (School-Based)

What You’ll Do

One of our campuses, CICS Longwood, is in need of a dedicated night custodian. The night custodian will play a key role in keeping this 3rd grade through 12th grade campus clean so that its staff and students have a safe and pleasant environment that supports teaching and learning.

Specific responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

  • Clean assigned areas, which may include the following activities:
    • Scrubbing
    • Disinfecting
    • Vacuuming
    • Sweeping
    • Mopping
    • Dusting
    • Stripping/Buffing/Waxing/Sealing Floors
    • Shampooing carpets
    • Window washing
  • Assigned areas include hallways, classrooms, restrooms, offices, cafeteria, auditorium, gym, library, multi-purpose spaces, exterior grounds, parking lot, playground, and any other area assigned by the Custodial Supervisor.
  • Use chemicals and equipment to perform duties.
  • Empty trash from trash receptacles.
  • Clean and sterilize restrooms and water fountains.
  • Clean up bodily messes including vomit, feces, urine and blood in accordance with training.
  • Assist Custodial Supervisor with cleaning projects or tasks.
  • Help Custodial Supervisor train new employees in housekeeping procedures.
  • Participate, successfully, in the training programs offered to increase the individual’s skill and proficiency related to the assignments.
  • Review current developments, literature and janitorial sources of information related to job responsibility.
  • Ensure adherence to OSHA and maximum safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties as delegated by Supervisor.
  • Follow federal and state laws, as well as company policies.
  • For Day Custodians: report for duty from 6:30am to 3:00pm on all workdays.
  • For Night Custodians: report for duty from 2:30pm to 11:00pm on all workdays.

  • Experience in a school environment preferred.

Key Relationships

 

  • Reports to Custodial Supervisor
